The Keys to Finding What You Need
Here is How Things Are Arranged:
All the discs are split into different Direction
& Distance categories.
The direction the disc falls at the end of the
flight is based on using a backhand throw by a right-handed golfer. A
disc that turns will finish with a hard left hook
vs. a disc that fades
finishing on a less severe drop to the left. To adapt this to a
left-handed person, or a side-arm or forehand thrower, you simply
reverse the direction, (since you are effectively reversing the spin of
the disc). A Left Turn disc becomes a right turn.
In distance, Drivers are
designed to fly the long distances by using a low profile, wide rim and
a sharp beveled edge. As a rule of thumb Long Range
drivers will be easier to throw and will not fly as far as the X-tra
Long Range drivers. Midrange discs are
built for a slower delivery and are usually very easy to throw and
manage. Putters
are discs made to hit the chains and stay in the basket. These are
going to be the slowest of all four styles and the easiest to throw.
Either a midrange or putter can be used as an approach disc.
There
are a variety of discs within each category. If you have a question
about which one to buy please do not hesitate to contact us. Your
satisfaction is our goal.
Here is advise for when it comes to chosing which plastic
to buy. Innova "Champion" and Discraft "Z"
discs are very durable. However the disc will tend to fade or turn
slightly more due to the plastic. The Innova "Proline",
Discraft "Elite X", Lightning "Prostyle",
and other mid-priced discs fly similar to the standard discs with added
durability and a softer or tackier feel than the standard
plastic.
The standard plastic will fly just fine. As a matter of fact the long
distance record is held with a standard Valkyrie! The discs will absorb
tree hits and scuffs less than the other plastics and will eventually
lose some stability. This will cause the disc to fade less to the left.
Sometimes the perfect disc is one that has been "Tacoed" in to a tree a
few times.
